It is recommended to exchange your money in Mauritius on arrival, rather than in your home country to avail of lower exchange rates. However, money changer at the airport the exchange rate is quite high. Try to visit a local private money exchange bureau such as Shibani Finance or Thomas Cook (see below), as these will offer you better rates than banks or hotels. There are plenty of money changer at the airport, but the exchange rate is quite high.
